Welcome to Year 3 - Please view our Meet the Teacher Presentation here.
Our Year 3 teachers are Miss Garnham and Miss Hanlon and our teaching assistants are Mrs Hinks and Miss Chamberlain.
If we were to describe ourselves in three words we would say caring, positive and fun!
As children start their journey through Key Stage 2 we encourage them to become independent, considerate learners and citizens. Using 'Circle Time', we address children’s worries and concerns, helping them to come up with their own solutions. We expect children, through nurture, to become responsible for their own learning and organisation. Inspiring children through challenge we embed a culture of positivity and a ‘can do’ attitude and guide them to resolve friendship issues themselves, where appropriate. By teaching children the skills of resilience, responsibility, co-operation and collaboration we equip children with a tool kit to face life.
We aim to deliver a curriculum which encompasses all abilities and supports every child to make the most progress possible. Our children have hands on experience in all areas of the curriculum for example: Creating models of our local area using junk materials, play dough, paint and construction toys and taking part in hands-on workshops to learn more about the Egyptians and the Stone Age.
Year 3 is very lucky to have a creative, supportive and enthusiastic team, with a passion for education and a desire to get the best from the children; staff often go over and above expectations to create a lively, exciting learning environment - encouraging all children to build in confidence and stretching those who need an extra challenge.
Staff in Year 3 use our school organisers to share daily triumphs and concerns with parents, as well as to set homework challenges and keep track of home and school reading.
Staff are always available to discuss concerns or answer questions. Parents/Carers are welcome to contact teaching staff via the following emails:
