Special Educational Needs & Disabilities

At St. Luke’s we are committed to developing children within a secure, inclusive, happy and caring Christian community. There is a commitment to excellence which ensures all children achieve their full personal, social and academic potent.

We expect all of our pupils to make good progress due to high quality teaching at school and support from home.  Each term we look at each pupil’s assessment data and explore if there are areas where a pupil appears to have a barrier to learning.

Yvonne Scott who is our Special Educational Needs and Disability Co-ordinator (SENCo) works closely with school staff, parents/carers, pupils and other agencies to find out if there are difficulties due to:

  • communication and interaction
  • cognition and learning
  • social, mental and emotional health
  • sensory and physical needs.

We embrace the fact that every child is different, and, therefore, the educational needs of every child are different. Only by working with and listening to parents/carers and pupils can we enable every pupil to reach their full potential socially, emotionally and academically during their time at St Luke’s.

As a parent/carer you will have a number of questions about what our school can provide to help each pupil.  We have recently updated our SEND Information Report, which contains answers from the school staff to the most frequently asked questions.

We would welcome any feedback you have, and if you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school.
