Remote Education Provision at St. Luke's CE Primary 

We have made a determined effort to maintain as much normality as possible during any period where children are learning from home.

• We teach the same curriculum remotely as we do in school wherever possible and appropriate. However, we have needed to make some adaptations in some subjects. 

• We endeavour to provide feedback to pupils who are learning from home 

How long should I expect my child to be working?

Lessons each day will begin shortly after 9:00am in a morning and will run with breaks until lunchtime. Often a further streamed session will take place in an afternoon.

How will my child access online remote education you are providing?

Lessons are streamed 'live' from the classroom enabling all pupils who are either 'isolating at home' or those children of 'key workers' to access the same teaching.

Pupils learning from home will upload their work to Edmodo - our portal for storing completed work. From here work is marked and feedback provided.

If my child does not have digital or online access at home, how will you support them to access remote education?

We recognise that some pupils may not have suitable online access at home. We take the following approaches to support those pupils to access remote education:

-Where a family does not have a device or enough devices to support the learning in the home, we will loan a device to enable access to the teaching taking place

-In the event of failure of devices or if there are further difficulties, Learning Packs are provided to enable pupils to access the learning opportunities. We would encourage these to be returned for marking and feedback.

How will my child be taught remotely?

Some examples of remote teaching approaches:

• the great majority of lessons will include 'live teaching' (online lessons)
• recorded teaching (e.g. Oak National Academy lessons, video/audio recordings made by teachers - particularly for Early Years)
• commercially available websites supporting the teaching of specific subjects or areas, including video clips or sequences

What are your expectations for my child’s engagement and the support that we as parents and carers should provide at home?

We expect all pupils who are at home to engage with the live teaching which takes place each day.

We ask parents/carers to encourage pupils, to support and alert us to any issues or problems.

How will you check whether my child is engaging with their work and how will I be informed if there are concerns?

We shall mark work and provide feedback to your child. Where there are concerns around engagement, we shall contact you and discuss our concerns.

Where a child is not accessing the learning or indeed is not being seen, then the school will contact the parent/carer to check on the well-being of the child.

How will you assess my child’s work and progress?

All uploaded work will be marked and feedback provided. Some feedback may even be 'verbal' through software which allows us to record specific praise or instruction to your child.

How will you work with me to help my child who needs additional support from adults at home to access remote education?

We recognise that some pupils, for example some pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), may not be able to access remote education without support from adults at home. We acknowledge the difficulties this may place on families, and we will work with parents and carers to support those pupils in the following ways:

-Regular weekly contact is made. This would be a telephone conversation where needed.

-Additional or tailored materials provided 

-Where is is felt a child may be vulnerable, discretion may be used to teach the child in school rather than remotely. 

Remote education for self-isolating pupils

Where individual pupils need to self-isolate but the majority of their peer group remains in school, self-isolating pupils will be expected to continue to engage in the 'live' lessons daily.
